Week 8: Blog post 2a: Africa: Kenya : Kenya to recruit 10,000 policemen ahead of August 8 polls

 The article, "Kenya to recruit 10,000 policemen ahead of August 8 polls" illustrates the upcoming recruitment of 10,000 people for the National Police Service ahead of the general elections on August 8, 2017, with the service specifics, current national situation, and the purpose of the recruitment. New recruits should serve in the National Police Service for at least ten years and some will be assigned to keep the violence which might occur during the election under control. It has been 10 years since 1200 people had died during a disputed presidential election which makes the voters more sensitive about this matter as shown through the chaotic clashes and claims of rigging happened this month. The duty of the applicants is to contain any kind of violence beforehand and finish the general elections with no casualties. Kenya's National Police Service has opened applications for 10,000 more people and the article states the details of the service, in what circumstances they are recruited, and the reason of this recruitment.

 I once felt that more men are needed in the Korea Coast Guard conscripted police unit regarding the various types of work and the amount of work assigned to them and if not possible, rearrange their duties. The roles of the conscripted police were steering the wheel, cooking for the whole crew, soaping the ship after patrol, assisting engine check-up, cleaning and etc. All of these works were assigned to 3 to 4 men which were quite an overload but in an emergency, the intensity of the work increases such as steering 4 hours straight on midnight with less than 4 hours of sleep. It would be better if there were surplus human resources but if it is impossible, I thought some of the police officers could be assigned to help us with our duties since they were just in their beds when a specific situation which they're required does not happen. I had felt it is necessary to recruit more men in the Korea Coast Guard conscripted police unit because of the more than enough types of work, overloaded work amount, and if there is a setback improving the conditions, maybe reassign each member's duties.
